COUPLE will co-host the online webinar “Ammonia as an Energy Carrier” (Part III) on 9 December 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00 CET, together with the APOLO, ANDREAH, and MEASURED projects. The webinar is organised as part of the European Hydrogen Innovation (EUH₂) Cluster.

The webinar brings together EU-funded projects developing innovative ammonia technologies and discusses their role in future sustainable energy systems. The programme includes a presentation of COUPLE by project coordinator Gautier Papon.

COUPLE’s contribution focuses on one of the key steps in using ammonia as a hydrogen carrier: recovering the hydrogen efficiently once the ammonia reaches its destination. The project combines palladium-based membrane reactors (PdMR) and proton ceramic electrochemical reactors (PCER) in a single integrated process that cracks ammonia and delivers high-purity, pressurised hydrogen while recovering the heat the process needs. The system targets ammonia conversion above 99.9%, hydrogen recovery above 95% and energy efficiency above 90%. The webinar is an opportunity to share this approach with the wider ammonia and hydrogen community and to explore synergies with complementary projects along the value chain.

It also features pitch presentations from other European Hydrogen Innovation Cluster projects: HERMES, CARMA-H2, HYIELD and PYRAH2.
